Properly selected

Properly selected lighting will help you transform any room and create a cozy atmosphere in it. We will talk about the secrets of lighting design, as well as how to make lighting with your own hands, in this article.

Types of lighting
Lighting in a room can be divided into three types:

General (background) lighting

Working (directional) lighting

decorative lighting

Ambient lighting refers to ceiling lights that evenly illuminate the entire room. If we are talking about background lighting, then it is important to remember that ceiling lights should not cast shadows and glare.

Work lighting includes all light sources that give a directional beam of light: table lamps, floor lamps, spotlights, etc. Work lighting should be brighter than the background, but within the optimal brightness for the eyes. Where the work area will be located depends on the type of room, your preferences and lifestyle. In the office, it can be a desktop or a reading chair, in the kitchen - a dining table.

After you have planned your background and task lighting, you need to think about what kind of atmosphere you want to create in the room. This is where decorative lighting (LED lights, etc.) comes in handy. Here it is important to choose a spectrum that will most successfully emphasize the interior. Lighting Rules
Below we have compiled some useful tips for you that will come in handy when planning the lighting of a room.

The most important design rule is that bright light will visually expand the room, and subdued light, on the contrary, will reduce it. If you want to make a large room visually more compact, then darken the ceiling and use spotlights.

Visually “raise” low ceilings will help lamps with reflectors pointing upwards. If the ceilings, on the contrary, need to be lowered, then darken it and turn on the lampshades with directional light down.

Advice! Another little trick is to light up the wall behind the TV or computer screen. This will reduce eye strain.

Lighting in the apartment
For lighting in an apartment, you can use different lighting devices: incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, LEDs, optical fibers, etc. But today, when tariffs are rising, energy-saving lamps have become especially popular.
