Valencia

The fabulous city of Valencia is located in eastern Spain on the Mediterranean coast. Its fascinating history began in the era of the Roman Empire - even then the city began to actively develop both culturally and economically. After the Moors captured this territory, Valencia was the capital of the Mauritanian kingdom for a long time. It was during this period that a large number of luxurious palaces were erected in the city, irrigation canals and powerful defensive structures were built, which were subsequently tested for strength more than once.
Today, Valencia still continues to play a significant role in the life of Spain, and the local port is the second largest in the country.
The historical heritage of the city is simply enormous. What is the beautiful Cathedral of Valencia, which was built in the XIII century. Its distinctive feature is three gates, each of which is made in its own style. However, most people seek to visit it not to admire the beauty of the architecture, but to see with their own eyes the legendary Holy Grail, stored in the temple, the cup from which, as expected, Jesus ate during the Last Supper.
Another attraction of the city is the building of the Silk Exchange, built in the Gothic style. This building, which is about 500 years old, is even included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
In addition, the Jardi de Turia park, built on the site of the old Turia river bed, the Mercado Central market, and the L’Oceanografic aquarium, are must-sees.
As one of the sunniest places in Spain, Valencia has long won the hearts of beach lovers, because you can sunbathe there almost all year round. At the same time, despite the fact that this city is in third place in the country in terms of population, it is quite quiet and calm, and the locals lead a leisurely and measured lifestyle.
A special point worth mentioning is paella, which Valencia is so famous for. This famous Spanish dish is made with rice, vegetables, meat or seafood. Residents of the city claim that the way paella is prepared in Valencia is not prepared anywhere else, so it is simply impossible not to try it.
