The small Greek island of Alonissos has the status of an ecologically clean island. This means that the island promotes sustainable development and the conservation of natural ecosystems. Many people consider the waters here to be the cleanest in the Mediterranean. Water taxis, ferries and small boats transport visitors who want to explore the beaches, including Agios Dimirios Beach, Chyssi Milia Beach, Tzortzi Yialos Beach and Kokkinokastro. For those looking for truly secluded beaches on the island, tiny offshore islands such as Peristera should be tried. Scuba diving is also very popular here. The beautiful crystal clear waters allow divers to explore sunken cities and ancient shipwrecks dating back to the 5th century BC.


A day trip to Athens should also not be overlooked when visiting Alonissos. While exploring its historical monuments, don't forget to visit the Acropolis, the Theater of Dionysus and the National Archaeological Museum. Walking around the city does not exclude visiting restaurants, cafes and bars where you can relax in a quiet environment with a drink and a meal.


Alonissos has a typical Mediterranean climate and long, hot, dry summers with a mild cooling breeze known as the meltemi that blows in from the sea. Summer on the island of Alonissos takes place with temperatures around 30C from June to August with 13 hours of sunshine per day. September and October are around 25C, and April and May are around 20C with 7 hours of sunshine a day.
